Trackers are a way to keep track of what threads you're in, what threads you've completed, and what threads are still in the works. You can grab templates from caution or create your own, but either way we all know forums can get hectic, so this is the place to get organized. Trackers aren't required, but if you'd like to create one this is the place to do it.

Some characters have an abundance of secrets that they need to tell someone without the fear of it getting out, and what more loyal person to talk to than their personal journal? Finally easing back into the realm of virtual-ism, this is the place for your characters to keep online blogs and photo albums (whether that be through a social service such as tumblr, a custom domain, or some other form of blogging). Not all blogs have to be public; some people just feel the need to blog for their own personal enjoyment, while others attempt to please those who look at their page. This is also the board to place photo albums, whether they be digital or, in some cases, solid albums that sit on the bookshelves.

No New Posts WESTWOOD MALL

Westwood Mall is a blend of posh and outlet stores all wrapped up into one large white building with a rounded sun roof. While its doors are flooded during the weekend, the mall is pretty busy during weekdays too; everyone needs a break. Stores are located on both floors, ranging from formal wear to casual attire to accessories, electronics, home appliances, chocolatiers, jewelry, etc. (Some shops even take up two stories!) The food court is based on the second floor in the center of the mall, sporting a vast array of fast food places that fix orders as soon as you ask for them. If you're looking for a place to relax and spend a little money, this is the place to do it.

No New Posts OTEGA HIGH SCHOOL

Otega High School, located right next to town square, is a rather old building with worn-in stairs, chalkboards, and long hallways that branch off into different directions that always confuse new students. It's a hard place to navigate, but once you get the hang of it you're good to go; the library and the cafeteria are located in the basement (separated by a thick wall and large double doors that are always locked after the last bell). The first floor is mostly reserved for computer labs and math classes, the second floor for history, the music hall, and psych, and the third floor contains the science rooms as well as other classes like health, food & nutrition, fashion, etc. There's one final floor, also known as the attic, which is used as an art studio studio (with lots of windows that let in natural light). Even though the school is large in scale the student body population varies from year to year. Student council is made up of a select six students that are elected through direct votes, and ever since anyone can remember the school colours have been blue and white. While there are a few sports team, OHS's most notable one is their basketball team (they usually travel to neighbouring suburbs or even into Boulder for away games). Other then that... the school mascot is a mountain lion, which accurately describes the school environment. It's not the most accepting place, but everyone finds their niche.

No New Posts BRISTOL MARKET

Tucked away into a long, black alleyway lies the Bristol Market, a basic black market in which sellers can make a penny off knock-off purses, watches, bootlegged DVDs, and other assorted items. While the market is somewhat active during the day, it mostly thrives at night when all the booths are open and running. It's safest to travel here in groups, and those with strong morals avoid the place alltogether.

Otega square is a small patch of neatly cut grass that lies in the center of the city. A couple of benches have been placed around a bubbling, marble fountain that pumps water day and night (although at night the water is lit up, making the show a little more spectacular). It is not a rare sight to see families enjoying picnics on the grass, old couples sitting on the benches, and athletes doing laps around the place. The square is open to everyone as long as they follow two basic rules: 1) No smoking. 2) You must pick up after your dog.

No New Posts OAKSVIEW HOME

The first thing you might notice when you walk into Oaksview Nursing Home is the vast, red-carpeted foyer decorated with swinging glass chandeliers and fine china place sets. A quaint upright piano sits in the far corner of the room, its stool tucked neatly under the keys until someone has the urge to play. Residents can choose to have individual or joint rooms that all-in-all look identical to each other. The whole place smells a bit like soap and mothballs but the atmosphere is warm and the residents are generally happy and always up for a good story or two about the good old days. Medical care is provided when needed and many families have some of their older relatives boarded up here.

Family visiting for the holidays? Son just graduated? Got that promotion at work and you want to celebrate with a little umph? Venecia Ristorante is the town's dubbed five star restaurant, and if you don't believe the reviews just take a look at the hearty menu. Authentic italian dishes are prepared here by Chef Agnuccio himself and his signature sauces fresh and hot off the stove if your willing to wait a little bit longer for your food (He takes his time). Here they also offer a number of champagnes and wines which makes them very popular on New Years. Just make sure you don't order too much; the prices are a little overwhelming.

No New Posts PIZZA SHACK

The owner of this fast food joint wanted to invest in a more popular pizza franchise, but after some legal issues and money troubles, he settled for the next best thing: Pizza Shack. The place is on the lower end of the scale when it comes to quality meals and service but everyone likes a good slice of pizza and their deals on Tuesday can’t be beat. You can expect to find all the typical pizzas on the menu but the chef tried to attract a different crowd with his dessert pizzas that are, to say the least, a required taste. Pizza Shack is mostly kept in business by the younger generations and it's definitely in the perfect location - right next to the town’s arcade so you can get your fill of greasy goodness and then empty your pockets at Gamezone for a toy you’re never going to keep.

No New Posts GAMEZONE

This arcade used to rake in the money during the late 80’s but ever since then it’s seen better days and doesn’t attract nearly as many customers as it used to. There are still a lot of faces that walk through the doors to spend their coins on crowd favourites such as Dance Dance Revolution, Pac-Man, Whack-A-Mole and Hooplahoop. If you’re good enough at the variety of games you can choose from you’ll be rewarded tickets that you can trade in for an assortment of prizes such as a cuddly soft toy for your date or, if you’ve got a sweet tooth, a wide array of confectionery treats. Unfortunately, the staff doesn’t restock the prizes as much as everyone would like so some people just hold on to their tickets and pray for the day they decide to mix things up.

If you're not feeling tip-top or have the nagging thought that your health is plummeting, Pure Fitness is the place to visit in order to get yourself back into shape. With a large number of treadmills, ellipticals, and cable/puller machines, all equipment is available for use as long as you're a member of the gym. The weight room is well stocked with everything from two pound weights to eighty pound iron dumbbells and there's indoor and outdoor pools for the serious swimmer. Classes are held all days of the week and taught by different instructors - some more lenient than others. Personal trainers work with their clients. The owner of the place is not hard to miss, mostly due to his muscles, which are most likely what gives him the confidence to hit on the entire aerobics class.

No New Posts PARADISE RECORDS

If you don't know where to look, Paradise Records can be hard to miss due to the sheer smallness of the store and the half-lit, half-broken neon sign hanging out front. But upon entering through the glass door, you'll find a vast array of vinyl records, cds, tapes, and half-price listening devices you can purchase from behind the counter. You can also sell your old music to PR and usually get a fair pay for it. The place is only manned by three or four staff but they sure know they're way around music if you're looking for anything in particular. There's two floors; the level floor and the basement. The basement is usually for things on sale.

No New Posts THE STRIP

If you’re looking for something to do on a Friday night or something to spice up your nightlife in general then The Strip is Otega’s hot spot for an evening out on the town. There is literally something to appeal to anyone and everyone along this street of clubs and lounges, bars and pubs. Some of the clubs are harder to get into than others but the residents know their way around the place - which clubs to go to, which to avoid, and which bouncers allow a little bribery to get in. It’s not all about partying though; if you’re looking for a quiet drink with friends or just a place to relax, there are some lounges that offer singers and performances from local and travelling bands and even some stand up comedy from time to time. These places can be a little expensive but it’s the price to pay to get away from the shouts and brawls of the younger Otega folk.

No New Posts TOWN HALL

Originally built to sit smack middle in the center of town, due to expansion the white town hall building is now perched a little ways off, right on the edge of what is considered 'down town'. Here, officials come to do business, sort out town matters, and hold important meetings. Of course, there aren't many officials to begin with, so the work-place dynamic is a bit out of tune, but nonetheless work gets done in the end. Vampire meetings are also held in order to discuss the ongoing vampire problem, and sometimes, vampires themselves are invited into the building in order to sit in on these meetings and discuss any problems or solutions that have come to their attention.

No New Posts POLICE STATION

One of the older and more compact buildings in Otega, the police station is a home away from home to those people who protect the town from crime and violence… or at least try their best. The police officers inside the building work in a hierarchy and are constantly pushing each other go to greater heights. Some officers are respected more than others, mostly due to office politics and gossip, which has resulted in a few brawls here and there. In fact, the place is almost as clique-y as high school, although no one acknowledges the fact. After work, many like to retire together as one collective and hit the bars and pubs in town, apart from the poor old sods who have to work the night shift. The station comes with a small and secure jail and still maintains most of the original architectural detail inside.

No New Posts LIBRARY

The old library looks rather regal with fancy columns and old patterns etched into it's surface. It sits facing Town Hall, and is one of the oldest in Otega Valley. Many come here to get lost in its vast world of assorted literature and usually end up checking out a book or two to take home with them (fees aren't merciful to those who turn in their novels late). Stacks of newspapers, magazines, and public records are scattered throughout the place if you know where to look and tables and chairs are set out in all corners in case you want to sit down with a good read. There's a table displaying a few old Dell Computers that are easy to access after getting a librarian's permission, and although they're slow, some find the flickering monitors comforting and useful. Whatever your reason for coming to the library, it's not hard to get lost looking through the large oak shelves.

No New Posts ST. MICHAEL'S HOSPITAL

The hospital has been around since anyone can remember, named after the famous St. Michael himself. It has six wings, each for a specialized treatment, and - inside these six wings - a few specialized corridors. While the building itself is very old, local funding and donations make sure that the place is clean, hygenic, and overall a safe place for patients to go if they're having any kind of trouble. Two pots of flowers have been set out in front of the building's double doors in an attempt to brighten up the otherwise dull gray brick that makes up the hospital's exterior. Currently low on staff, they are in search of more nurses and doctors... but until then, many medical staff are stuck working double and night shifts. Some are friendlier then others; you just have to catch them on a good day.

Queen Street Shelter was graciously built out of the funds of one of the founding family’s wealth years ago in an attempt to tackle the new problem of homelessness on the Otega streets (and to also deflect the backlash of a personal scandal the family was struggling with at the time). The shelter has permanent jobs available for those who have formed a bond with the residents in their voluntary years but voluntary jobs are always available - they can always use another pair of hands. The shelter provides food and housing for up to 200 residents and there are many programs to help the inhabitants get back on their feet and out of the care of the workers.

For fans of aesthetics, reminiscing in works, and discovering the past, there’s a place tucked neatly in Old Otega just for you. Built and funded by one of the founding families in one of the oldest buildings in town, Walter’s History Museum, boasts countless artefacts and artworks that all come together to form a piece of the town’s history in one space. Almost every resident has entered the ancient building at some stage (on their own accord or on one of the many school excursions) and glanced over the enclosed documents and objects that helped make the town what is today. It may be considered a boring waste of time for some but for other’s it gives them that extra spark in their day seeing the priceless displays.

If you're looking for a cheap cup of authentic, special blend coffee and a close-knit family of friendly employees/coffee enthusiasts then you have come to the right place. Located inside a modest, brown brick building with a thin sign dangling over the storefront that reads "Jupiter Coffee House" next to a picture of the planet Jupiter, the place might seem more dodgy than chic. But with a closer look you and an open mind, you will realize that you've discovered a hidden gem. Locals are the shop's main customers, and many of Otega's downtown residents visit the place regularly (until, eventually, their names and coffee orders are memorized).

No New Posts THE SWISS TWINS

Located right in the hustle and bustle of Old Otega, this quaint little pub has everything the customers want and has all sorts flocking to it to catch up with friends or have a quiet drink alone. The pub is known for attracting the local police force who somehow managed to sweet talk one of the bartenders into a little discount and is a short walk from the precinct, although, it doesn’t stop some youths from trying to score a beer with their fake IDs. As for the other patrons, the local “korean” club (an alias for SUmmus Solis) come here fortnightly to practice over some pitchers of beer in the basement. It’s also a hotspot for the younger crowd to have a sing-along with a jukebox packed with golden oldies. As for the name, nobody is really sure why it’s named The Swiss Twins; some say it’s because the owner himself is a Swiss man while others say it’s named after his wife, who is indeed a Swiss twin. One thing they can all agree on is a fun filled night out if they choose to venture to The Swiss Twins, where something is always happening and you’re guaranteed to run into a friend or two.

No New Posts AMC CINEMA

The AMC cinema is the newest building in this part of town, and obviously so. Its flashing lights, neon broadcast sign, and black, bolded letters make it look strange and almost surreal looking next to the crumbling buildings of otega's past! The place was converted into what it is today from an old performance theater that used to be used to watch plays and theatrical shows back in the day. Now, the only remnant of what the building used to be is an old, abandoned theater that was left standing due to lack of funds. The AMC cinema was constructed here in order to draw tourists and locals alike back to this side of town and, well... it has successfully done just that.

Barnes and Noble is the resident commercialized book shop in town, sporting an attached coffee shop that keeps customers coming back for books and espresso. The place is kept chilled during summer and toasty on winter days which makes it a popular hangout among all ages, not to mention that fact that it's open later then most buildings downtown (11 pm). Prices vary depending on the book, although the most expensive books in the store are usually the new releases displayed in the glass case when you first walk in. Free wifi is available throughout the store in case you want to get a little work done on your laptop and tables are placed out front if you don't want to be cooped up inside.

No New Posts JAY'S DINER

The namesake of this diner has been dead for several years but his highly sought after recipe of pecan pie still manages to keep the Otega residents (and tourists) happy. The diner isn’t the fanciest eatery in town, with it’s vintage booths and cozy feel, but it’s still a popular location to meet up with friends on your lunchbreak or to grab a milkshake and hot dog after school. Most customers leave their worries at the door and it’s something of a place to relax, socialize, and forget about the outside troubles over some of the many guilty pleasures available on the diner’s menu. The diner is renowned for being one of the first things young Otega residents place on their resume but none of the staff manage to stay for too long.

No New Posts UPTOWN

Among the shops, clubs, restaurants, and other things, houses and lofts are squeezed into the chaos. Most homes here are more compact and lightly painted, with black shingle (or metal) roofs and water drain pipes that string down the walls and into the dirt. This is an expensive part of town to live in if you aren't careful with finance, but many young and old folk alike still manage to hold down homes here. It's a good place to be if you like to be in the middle of all the action because this is the heart of the entertainment district.

No New Posts DOWNTOWN

Downtown is where you'll find many of the older houses (a bit shaky on their foundations but splendid nonetheless). Many of the founding families still live in their heirloom homes which are very big and very grande but, say... don't have the best insulation or paint jobs. These large houses all sit on Queen Street, one after the other, seeing as many founding families were neighbors. On the other hand, there are also many apartment complexes, ranging from small studios to penthouses, although this side of town is considerably less popular real estate-wise than uptown.

No New Posts EAST

The east side of town is dotted with apartments and condos, and if you're looking for a cheap place to live, this is probably your best bet. In older years this was one of the more shady parts of town but it's recently seen some good times and cleaned itself up. Families have therefore moved into the area and so now it's populated by a unique blend of parents, children, risk-prone youth who wanted to move out of their old homes, couples who don't want anyone in their business, and the strange man living across from you who you suspect might be harboring a fugitive or two.

No New Posts WEST

To the west of the town, the grounds starts breaking up into rolling hills and, eventually, clustered mountains. Houses here are more scattered against the uneven earth and harder to come by as most people prefer to live closer to the town's center. The homes are very unique in structure and detail (seeing as many of the residents built their own houses) and the view is spectacular. Overall, it can be very tranquil around here, if not a little lonely at times.

No New Posts PALMS MOTEL

Back in 1961, the Palms Motel sprang up to accommodate annual tourists while also hoping to draw in new visitors with the clever use of the word 'Palms' (an attempt to trick spontaneous trip-takers into thinking that Otega was a tropical destination). The place had a good run but unfortunately had to shut down due to debt. The owner ended up signing off the building's lease to the first person that came along and ever since most locals have just forgotten about the place in general. It is believed to be abandoned, which is why the Black Eyed Kids have made it their new home.

Sitting a few miles west of the town, Krista Trailer Park is home to a dozen or so mobile homes that sprawl across the field in rows. Many choose to live here for the lower cost as compared to other housing and the ability to move to a new area more quickly, although they'll probably be reluctant to invite guests over anytime soon. Sometimes kids come here to get away for a bit, and more often then not you'll be stepping over abandoned cigarettes and bits of glass.

No New Posts GAS STATION

People coming and going from Otega have all come across old Jack Carpenter’s gas station, inevitably to fuel up whatever mode of transport they are using. Old Jack has run the gas station for as long as anyone can remember, and although the prices may be cheap, his attitude can deter a customer or two (especially tourists). Jack doesn’t have much stock in his little store but he does manage to have a small variety of chips and drinks to keep them going a little while on their travels and even some cigarettes he keeps behind the counter. It’s really the only place in town to fuel up, so locals have become accustomed to Old Jack’s snipes and they really can’t complain about the prices.

No New Posts ABANDONED WAREHOUSE

Another popular hang-out spot (if you run with the right crowd) is this rather large warehouse hidden behind a bit of brush. Standing right next to the edge of the woods, this place use to serve as a timber mill until there was an accident that killed two of its employees. No one really knows the details, but the place was cleared out immediately and now just boasts an empty mess of rooms, boxes, and dust. A local company saw the cheap buy and purchased the place but has yet to make any changes to the warehouse's poor state... however, it is now illegal to trespass.

No New Posts TRAIN DEPOT

On the outskirts of town at the very edge of the city lies a poorly constructed train depot which fortunately for it’s patrons isn’t in use anymore (so they don’t have to fear it falling down on their heads). The abandoned railway tracks that lead up and loop around the old building can provide some entertainment for those who are easily amused or up for an adventure but the decrepit building is barely ever visited by anyone without a death wish. There’s nothing really to find except a lawsuit so it’s best to stay on the tracks and not let curiosity get the better of you.

No New Posts SURROUNDING WOODS

The woods surrounding the town's outskirts are a location worth visiting both day and night. During daylight people can wander through the lush greenery and be greeted with some of Otega’s most beautiful surroundings, a perfect place to enjoy a picnic lunch or a game of catch with friends or family. During the night, the woods become something of a romantic getaway for the youngsters of the town or even a location for small get-togethers and outdoor parties. The woods provide a perfect space to do whatever you wish, away from prying eyes, and this attracts some other shady meetings and affairs that locals tend to avoid discussing or coming across altogether. It’s best to come here during the day because it can be quite a dangerous location after the sun goes down and there’s no knowing who or what you might come across.

No New Posts MOUNTAIN RANGE

If you keep walking west, you'll eventually hit the mountain range (it's about a forty minute walk from when you first enter the woods). Athletes come here to train and hike, as well as tourists and a few locals who appreciate the view. The policy here is that you're allowed to climb the trails as long as you register at the gate. Fortunately, the park is open all year but walking the trails in the early morning or at night proves to be dangerous due to mountain lions, bears, and other native animals and therefore is illegal.

No New Posts NONE OF THE ABOVE

This board is for any location that isn't listed above! Although Otega Valley isn't that big of a place, we're still unable to list every single location within the town's borders, so you're free to pick your own route right here. Or, maybe your character is going on vacation and wants to thread that as well! This board is for everything else in the world.

No New Posts MINIATURE THREADS

Sometimes full-fledged threads might be a little too grande for something you want to get done in a short amount of time. Miniature threads are quick and easy, and especially helpful if you're roleplaying a quick conversation, argument, chance meeting, etc. Try not to have a million and one miniature threads up instead of maintaining a traditional thread or two, and please refrain from writing one liners, or two or three sentences. Usually a paragraph or two would constitute a sturdy miniature thread, although there is no word count here to worry about!

No New Posts THE TIME MACHINE

Everyone has memories from the past they'd like to relive and moments they want to bury deep, deep down and forget about. Here's the place to thread any past or future events in your character's timeline. No one knows what the future has in store, but maybe there's a particular event you'd like to get out of the way. The clock is ticking!

No New Posts THE DREAM SCAPE

When you lie down at night and shut off the light (and the world tears away), thoughts sometimes drift into dreams... and, occasionally, nightmares. Limits and restrictions are lifted and your mind can take you on new adventures as well as to old realms you thought you had forgotten. This is the place where anything can happen until you open your eyes.

No New Posts SOLO WRITING

Sometimes you just need to write without the intention of having anyone respond, or maybe there's a specific moment in your character's life that they're going through all by themselves. This board contains all solo threads, past, present, and future, and you can have multiple threads per character.

No New Posts GRAPHIC & CODING GALLERIES

We can all go to a resource site in order to find graphics and templates but sometimes members like to make their own creations! Here members can set up shops or galleries for any icons/avatars/signatures/templates they'd like to display and share with others. Please respect galleries and make sure not to take any work without permission. It's the member's decision whether or not they'd like to take requests, so be respectful of that as well.

No New Posts THE ARCHIVES

Here is where all dropped, inactive, or complete threads go. If a month goes by and a thread hasn't been replied to, it will be considered inactive and moved here in order to avoid clutter. Anything here can also be salvaged, so be sure to private message a staff member to unlock and move the thread back to its original board if you want something re-opened. If you finish a thread, you should also tell a staff member to move it to archives.
